~ This Saturday's Theme is Childhood ~

Theme: Childhood ** Become a Photo Hunter ** View Blogroll

With the photo hunt theme "childhood," I needed to dig through my photos of when I was growing up. I actually had in mind a photo of when I was pretty young on a bicycle. I was pretty excited when I came across this photo I forgot I had.

This is the first time I was ever on a motorcycle. I'm in the white helmet riding the motorcycle by my dad, who is sitting on the tailgate of his truck. We are at Clear Lake, California and it's April 1970. I'm 11 years old.

It was a lot of fun going through old photos.

Words to the Wise: Don't show your kids your photos of when you were younger, say around 20 years old. They look at you, they look at the photo, they look at you and they look at the photo. Then they get this horrified look like some accident has happened to you, because they are wondering where's the pretty person of 20 years old. My eldest didn't mean to do that, but by golly, he sure did, lol. Then he stammers out, "This is YOU!!!?!?" Yep, I'm an old fart now, sigh.

Have a great Saturday,

Biker Betty :)

PS: In rereading this I discovered an error. I was 10 years old in the photo. It was written 11 on the back of the photo, but I couldn't have been in 1970. It was written there by my dad's girlfriend at the time.

I love, love the photo :) - How cool you were able to share this one from your childhood. Yep - don't show your childhood photos to your kids...I get the same look.
I actually dug a little deeper into my childhood--my photo is b&w and has me on a tricycle.

Happy Saturday Hunt.

I thought you would at least put a photo of you, 3 years old on a motorbike ! I am very disappointed, lol ! Yes it's really fun to go through the old pictures. Instead of scanning them I took a picture, and run them through Picasa who did a nice job with them. With scanning I found out you loose a lot of the already pittyful quality !

This one's got to be a really precious photo capturing the first time you've ever been in a motorcycle. Frame it I'd say. :)

Terrific photo! :) What a wonderful photo to find when going through your old pictures! Too funny about your son. My mom says she likes looking at photos of her mom when she was younger because of the crazy 60s and 70s hairdos! :D

I was wondering if you were going to be able to work a motorcycle into this week's Hunt! Glad to see I was not disappointed!

As for your word to the wise - oh yeah! I second that!

I definitely came in expecting a picture on a bicycle! This was a treat! My daughter had a dirt bike when she was young -- we got it for her 13th birthday I think... she loved it for awhile but then lost interest. What an EXCITING day this must have been for you! First time... WOW!

How perfect that your childhood photo would include you on a motorcycle! Wonderful choice for The Hunt, BB.

I remember riding and crashing one of those. Remember they really didn't have brakes but a big piece of metal that would rub against the real wheel to stop it. Those were the days.

Is that a Honda Trail 70 (or 50)? That was the first bike I ever rode! Four down, no clutch. It was a blast.

BB, it reminds me of my favorite show, The Wonder Years. It just came on again where I live so I've been DVRing it.It's about growing up in the 60's and early 70's. I can so relate. Cool photo!
