~ This Saturday's Theme of Fake ~

Theme: Fake ** Become a Photo Hunter ** View Blogroll

When I saw that this week's theme is "Fake," I knew right away the picture I would use. The giant hercules beetle, being confined in an obviously soundly built fence, is most definitely fake. It does look like something out of a science fiction movie.

The hercules beetle is actually a marker for the locally famous May Museum of the Tropics. This museum is very popular in here Colorado Springs. Many schools and a bazillion students have been here to view the many invertebrates they have to show. Sadly, I haven't been to it myself, but my youngest son has thru a school field trip. He really liked it. Reading about it has me intrigued and I would like to go sometime. They have over 100,000 invertebrates, but as I understand it they only show about 8,000 at any one time.

They also have the Museum of Space Exploration and a Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park and Campground. What more could a person ask for?

I am very glad to know that the large bug in the background is not real. You never know when those fifty foot beetles will strike!!!!!!

Good thing h'es fake. I don't think I'd like to see a beetle that big really crawling around. Nice choice for The Hunt.

Oh so cool!! Yes, like I'm looking at Sci-Fi!!

How clever. Boy, I had a tough time coming up with something fake. Y'all seem to make it look so easy for the theme.

Happy Hunting.

Thank goodness that bug is fake. He is far too big for me to hunt. He would probably hunt me!

Hi Betty. It certainly looks like a scene from a sci-fi movie. Great take on this week's theme. Thanks for the visit. Take care!

That is a neat sculpture! Definitely fake, and it does look like something out of a sci-fi movie! Great choice for this week. :)

I thought the same thing when I saw your photo - a big bug from one of those 1950's horror flicks. Fun fake!

meeyauw said...

I think I saw that movie: local people thought the fence was sturdy enough. But the giant monster bug broke out and ravaged the countryside until the army came and shot it down! LOL

Sarch said...

Hmmm....I just added a comment that included a truly corny comment about getting "bugged" by that monsterous beetle but for some reason it isn't showin up.

Oh well...that is one giant bug!

Betty,
The "shocking" gum in my photo was at a booth at the Monument July 4th Street Fair. I'm not sure if the guy has a shop somewhere or what. I just make sure to visit him every 4th. If you haven't been to the Monument 4th celebration, I highly recommend it. It's a lot of fun, they have a wonderful parade and the Palmer Lake fireworks are awesome. I'm hoping to have a booth at the street fair next year with my Heritage Makers biz.

Ride on! (I was supposed to ride today with my hubby to Estes Park and over Trail Ridge Road, but woke up with a headache.)

I didn't look very long at your picture since invertebrates are not my kind of thing, even if they are fake, lol! But it is a clever take on the theme. You have been so many places!

happy hunting and happy weekend :)

I am glad that is a fake bug because I sure wouldn't want to think there was a real bug that big! :)

Mr. Althouse said...

Are you sure that bug is fake? I'm not so sure it's not just waiting to pounce!

Hey Betty, I posted a picture of my bike over on my blog. It's most definitely not fake!

Is the fence to keep the people out, or the bug in?

Hi Betty, ya know I've passed by this museum a number of times and never stopped... maybe one day, I’m sure the kiddos would enjoy it.
See you Saturday ;) Jovi
